Portland’s first ever Cricket Cook-Off is coming Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015. Edible insects are a new frontier for sustainable foods. Foodtech group Food Bytes is hosting this event. They are partnering with three new local cricket-centric food companies to provide ingredients to the contestants. Poda Foods, Thinksect, and Cricket Flours – to provide participants with either whole crickets or cricket flour to use in their favorite (or new) recipes.
Tickets to attend and sample the dishes in competition are $5 and must be purchased in advance through Brown Paper Tickets. The cook-off will be held at WeWork, 220 NW 8th Ave., Portlnad, Oregon from 6 pm until 9 pm.
