CHILDREN got to chomp on a feast of edible bugs when a pop-up ‘pestaurant’ visited their school.
It was like a scene from reality TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’ when pupils from Werrington Primary started popping the crunchy critters into their mouths.
And with a menu featuring Mexican spice mealworms, salt and vinegar crickets and chocolate-covered mixed bugs, there were plenty of offbeat options.
But the session also had a serious side as the pupils were taught about the role insects played in providing sustainable food sources around the world.
